Jenny Read-Heimerdinger

Lingüista y biblista

 

Estudió Lenguas Modernas en la Universidad de Londres. Tras graduarse en 1973 descubrió las maravillas del griego bíblico como una distracción mientras enseñaba inglés en África del Oeste. Cinco años después, mientras cuidaba a su hijo recién nacido, se escapaba una vez a la semana a realizar un curso que exploraba los manuscritos del Nuevo Testamento en la Universidad Católica de Lyon, Francia.

En 1985 su fascinación por los estudios bíblicos se materializó en un Máster en exégesis bíblica en Londres, seguido en 1994 de un segundo hijo y un doctorado en ciencias bíblicas, en la Universidad de Gales, focalizado en un manuscrito del Nuevo Testamento, el Códice Beza.

Desde ese momento, Jenny Read-Heimerdinger, ha saboreado la combinación de estudios históricos y lingüísticos con la investigación textual mientras enseñaba en universidades de todo el mundo. Tiene el honor de ser investigadora docente de diversas instituciones. Ha publicado un amplio abanico de trabajos de investigación centrados en el manuscrito Códice Beza, algunos en colaboración con Josep Rius-Camps. Actualmente trabaja para adaptar sus investigaciones a todo el público.

Perfil

Profesora altamente cualificada con gran experiencia en lenguas y estudios bíblicos, comprometida en estimular a los alumnos para desarrollar sus puntos fuertes individuales y en estimular la excelencia. Como investigadora entusiasta y prolífica, sus intereses están repartidos entre el griego helenístico, el análisis del discurso (lingüística), la crítica textual del Nuevo Testamento y el judaísmo del Segundo Templo. Junto con la enseñanza en Reino Unido, enseña regularmente en otras universidades europeas como profesora invitada.
